Welcome to the wonderful world of houses! They have always got me excited; I love making nice new ones, fixing up old ones, making our streets look nicer…
Your home should be a joy to live in; warm, easy to move around and logical to operate.
My aim is to achieve the best result I can within your budget. Liveability is my overriding goal, but form and appearance follow closely behind.
I like houses to be the best they can be; good insulation, good ventilation, good solar control (keeping the sun out in summer and letting it flood in in winter). Why? Because then the people who live in them are happier and healthier. And I make the house good looking as well, because then every time you come home you get a feeling of happiness and pride that YOU created this with my help.
My clients put a lot of trust in me; their home is not only their biggest financial investment, but also the place they want to raise their family or spend a lot of time in. ‘Home is where the heart is’ couldn’t be more true.
It’s my job to transform your ideas and needs, add my own expertise and flair, and deliver a better result than you ever imagined.
Have you been ‘putting up with’ things in your home? Too cold, too damp, a difficult kitchen layout, too crowded, sometimes it’s just an awkward space you can’t use properly.
I lived in a 70’s house with a separate kitchen which I hated. I could hear people in the living room talking, but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. If they came in to talk to me, there was not one place they could stand without being in my way. The day that we knocked the walls down and opened the space up I danced with joy! It felt life transforming which sounds a bit dramatic, but I was so much happier to cook after that.
It’s a lot of fun starting from scratch. The possibilities are endless…then of course there is council regulations, budget and a client wishlist to pull me back to reality!
We can get things right from the start. We can make the most of the sun and the views. All the storage for your toys (who knew paddleboards and snowboards took up so much room?) gets designed in. We can futureproof the layout so that when your kids leave home or your mum moves in, rooms can be used for other things. We can make it warm and dry with the right systems. And of course you get the kitchen of your dreams…
You want to stay in the area, but there’s nothing to buy that suits? Enter the renovation. The thing I love about them is the before and after can be so dramatic. Because you have already lived in the house and knew it’s limitations, your sense of relief and pride when we improve it is huge. Sometimes we don’t need to add extra space, instead we need to change the layout to make things work better. It’s a good feeling giving a home a new lease of life for another 30 or 40 years. Remember a 70’s house has been working hard for over 40 years. No wonder they need a bit of love and attention lavished on them!
